Breaker Bay is on the rugged south coast of Wellington. This house, built three years ago, overlooks the foreshore and was one of the first project designed by Funktion Architects.
The clients had an existing one room batch that had been altered over the years. They were happy to be adventurous with the arrangement of spaces and the types of materials used on the house. For example, parts of the upper membrane and macrocarpa decking brought into the house.

I spent Three years writing it - so I thought it was worth putting on the web site even though it has little or nothing to do with the practice - someone out there must be interested in the esoteric post modernist postulation on the relationship of ritual, culture and architecture? Full of jargon - there are some interesting things in the thesis (pdf document) but its hard going!
